Under Pressure

Currently listening to: The Joker - Steve Miller Band

So Armando Galarraga, pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, just had a perfect game taken away from him by a bad call from the umpire on the final out. To put that in perspective, I think it would have been the 21st perfect game in the history of major league baseball.

It's kind of like someone maintaining a 4.0 gpa and getting an A on the last test of their last course in college, and having the teacher or dean saying "Nope, you failed".

Or, like you won a 100 million dollar lottery, and when you go to pick up your prize, they say "Nope, you didn't win" and they rip up your ticket.

It's hard to explain, but basically it's doing something you should go down in history for, then having someone take it away from you because of their mistake (which now they will go down in history for). Something along those lines.

Anyway, I feel like everyone in our program is starting to feel the pressure of Finals week. I know I am. Projects and papers galore.

It's like being in a maze of assignments and tasks you need to finish. You turn your head away in disgust or triumph from one thing and another is waiting for you. Kind of like that time I was initiated by that pride of lions. Oh wait, that wasn't real.

Sometimes anxiety is good, if it's facilitative. Wow, I actually remembered that from...562? 560? 400?

Somehow, that anxiety will magically transform into a completed website, powerpoint presentation and curriculum design, hopefully of high quality. Good luck to everyone.
